Affinity Sorrow successfully funded on Kickstarter, with new perks

Indie projects from smaller developers are really on a roll this year. If you follow even just a few, it is exciting to see a game really take off, especially when it’s a Kickstarter campaign. We reported on one such game a few weeks ago, Affinity Sorrow, by Second Dimension. The 16-bit, top-down RPG aims at recreating nostalgic excitement we had as kids playing on old SEGA and Nintendo Entertainment Systems.

If this sounds like something up your alley, you’re not alone. Within 8 days of the kickoff, the developers announced they had successfully reached their goal of $52,500, and beyond. As of today, they sit at $63,224, with 594 backers and counting.

Because of the overwhelming support for Affinity Sorrow, Second Dimension provided an update with further incentives on February 6, 2022. “Thanks [sic] you all, we’ve unlocked our second stretch goal – an extra playable character!” the post said. “We have a few ideas in mind for what this character will be, but we need to work out details with the Become A Character tier before we can commit to revealing who this character is, this way we can ensure a balance in classes and allow more class options for the Become A Character tier.”

Two previous titles are add-ons

In addition to the new playable character, the developers have revealed new add-ons for backers. Individual and bundled copies of two previous games- Eyra the Crow Maiden and The Curse of Illmore Bay are now available in physical and digital formats. These titles will ship separately from Affinity Sorrow. Backers who choose the add-ons can expect them to arrive around August and September 2022.

There is still 16 days left to go and plenty of perks up for grabs before the campaign ends. So, if you’re looking for an adventurous project to back, head on over.
