Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Blu-Ray in February 2022

Gotta speed, keed: this new Blu-Ray set contains all 65 episodes in stereo for the very first time.

As part of its Discotek Day online panel, Discotek is bringing DiC Entertainment’s Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog to Blu-Ray. Containing all 65 episodes of the show in stereo sound for the first time, this physical release will be available to North American audiences in February 2022. Dr. Robotnik might hate that hedgehog, but even he’d admit that this release is way past cool.

Discotek is well-known for its physical anime releases, but the company also tackles Western cartoons as well. Classic 90s video game cartoons like Mega Man and Street Fighter: The Animated Series have previously been given the Discotek treatment.

Now, the Blue Blur’s about to have a snazzy new collection under his belt. It’s certainly a package deserving of a prrrrromotion.

About the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Blu-Ray

As you’d expect, this release contains all 65 episodes of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog remastered for SD Blu-Ray. The pilot episode (which features Sonic SatAM actor Jim Cummings as Robotnik) and the Christmas special Sonic Christmas Blast are also included, alongside the rushes for the first broadcast episode. Animator Milton Knight provides commentary for two episodes as well as the pilot and rushes.

Discotek has also been snooping (as usual) for a bunch of additional goodies to include on the Blu-Ray. You can watch the show’s original commercial bumpers and syndication commercials. There’s also an extensive gallery featuring production artwork from the show’s artists and animators.

See a preview of that below detailing Milton Knight’s notes on drawing Robotnik:

What else does Discotek have in store?

This isn’t the only physical release that Discotek is planning to launch in the future. Discotek announced several anime shows and films (alongside some other Western cartoons) set to release in 2022. Highlights from the event include Blu-Ray releases for Lupin III Part I, Tales of Phantasia: The Animation, the long-awaited Ninja Robots, and a new version of Discotek’s Angel Cop release with remastered visuals.

For Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, you can look forward to this collection when it launches on Feb. 22, 2022. Pre-orders are available now over on Right Stuf and retail at $59.95 USD. You’d have to be a nincombot to not pick this one up if you’re a fan of the show.
