Ys IX: Monstrum Nox gets Nintendo Switch release date

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox released on the PlayStation 4 in February to fairly strong reviews, currently at 80 on Metacritic. Meanwhile, Nintendo fans have been waiting for publisher NIS America to port it to the Switch.

Today, NIS America announced that Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will release on the Nintendo Switch on July 6 in North America, July 9 in Europe and Oceania on July 16. The PC version will release on July 6.

Developer Falcom’s latest entry in the Ys series finds Adol “The Red” Christin on his latest journey in the Prison City of Balduq, where his dreams and reality are intertwined as one, according to NIS America. Join him and the Monstrum to battle creatures of the night and shed light on the mysterious curse cast upon themselves.

The game is available physically in the “Pact Version,” which contains the Switch game, reverse cover sheet, mini art book and “Melodies of the Macabre” digital soundtrack download.

Key Features

Feared Protectors: Play as any of the six notorious Monstrums, each with their own unique Gifts that grant abilities such as scaling sheer walls or detecting hidden objects to protect the city from shadowy creatures.

The World Within the Walls: Explore the massive city, accept quests to aid the townsfolk, and enter the Grimwald Nox to vanquish the threats to Balduq.

Strength of the Night: Familiar mechanics such as Flash Move and Flash Guard allow you to outmaneuver your foes, while new additions such as Gifts and Boost Mode further augment your ability to fight.
