WildBrain Studios is hiring 3D Animators on Sonic Prime

WildBrain Studios is searching for experienced 3D Animators to work on their new animated series Sonic Prime.

Sonic fans were thrilled when Netflix announced Sonic the Hedgehog’s next animated series called Sonic Prime, which is slated to premiere worldwide in 2022. SEGA has said they have high hopes that the new Sonic series will help strengthen the Sonic IP as a whole.

Now, we’ve learned WildBrain Studios, the animation company behind Sonic Prime, is looking for 3D animators to join their team, they announced on Twitter.

WildBrain Studios is planning to create 24 episodes of the series, and the show is slated to premiere worldwide in 2022. Those interested in joining the team may want to act fast, as they plan to have their animators start in September.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, WildBrain Studios currently plans for the position to be remote. In addition, they also intend on holding interviews through video conferencing. There is one catch, however, as they announced on the official job posting that they are only interested in working with artists based in British Columbia. According to WildBrain Studios, the reason for this is due to technical limitations.

In addition to living in British Columbia, WildBrain Studios also requires that potential candidates have at least three years of experience working in the animation or film industry. They also place a strong preference on candidates who have worked on animating episodic-based programming in the past.

A multitude of Twitter users took to the comments on WildBrain Studios’ post to recommend 3D animator Jordan Rutter (known on Twitter as @SonicpoX) for the position. Rutter is passionate about Sonic the Hedgehog and has previous experience delivering high quality animation of the character. Although Rutter’s loyal fanbase has been vocal on their support for WildBrain Studios to hire him, his current residence in the United Kingdom means it’s unlikely he would be selected.

Although the qualifications to join the animation team for Sonic Prime may limit those who will be considered, the chance to work for WildBrain Studios is still an exciting opportunity. The company has worked on a variety of projects for high-profile companies including Netflix, DreamWorks, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

WildBrain Studios’ animated series Sonic Prime is set to premiere in 2022. The animated adventure, based on the hit game series Sonic the Hedgehog, is intended for kids, families and long-time fans of the character. They plan to tell a story that will not only be about Sonic’s quest to save the world, but will also contain themes of self-discovery and redemption.
