Ugly Sonic makes cameo in Disney+ film that just released

Do you know who the world didn’t hear enough from in 2019? Ugly Sonic! Remember? The first design of the blue blur for the live-action Sonic movie. It was a design so horrific that the studio had to delay the film and go back from scratch to change Sonic’s design to look more like the game. After the success of the re-design, you probably thought you’d never see that abomination again. Right? Fraid I got some bad news.

SPOILERS FOR CHIP N’ DALE: RESCUE RANGERS AHEAD. DON’T BLAME US.

If you keep an eye on movie and streaming releases, you know that this weekend sees the release of the meta sequel-reboot of Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers. The film premiered on Disney+ today, and fans noticed a plethora of cameos across the film. This one was NOT one people expected to see.

Ugly Sonic is ugly

Yes. Your eyes are seeing that right. That’s the ugly design of Sonic hawking out merchandise at a convention in regular clothing. And he’s voiced by Tim Robinson? From I Think You Should Leave? My god, it’s like they went all in for the joke.

Did anyone expect this? There’s no way anyone expected to see Ugly Sonic again, right? Furthermore, in a Disney movie? I need to know how the heck the team behind Chip N’ Dale convinced SEGA and Paramount to let this happen? What was that copyright contract discussion like? Oh, to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.

What do you think about the return of Ugly Sonic? Never thought you’d see him again, huh? Let us know in the comments below.
