Tokyo Game Show will be public this year

After three years of the show being online, organizers of the Tokyo Game Show have announced that the 2022 event will be held in person. Japan’s biggest gaming convention will return to Makuhari Messe in Chiba City with businesses and general public admission.

Due to local government policies concerning COVID-19, only limited tickets will be sold. Unfortunately, the organizers of the event confirmed that young children can not attend the event. Notably, this is due to uncertainties of their vaccination statuses.

Where has Tokyo Game Show been?

The Tokyo Game Show has been held digitally for two years. Press members were invited to showcases behind closed doors, with some events held online. It will be interesting to see if the organizers can pull off the event with restrictions and no issues.

This year has already seen other major events canceled in the gaming industry. E3 has confirmed they will not return to LA this June and go the digital route. If Tokyo Game Show goes through without a hitch, they can lay out a template for other shows to return in person safely. Best of luck to all the organizers involved to keep everyone safe and pull off the event!

TGS 2022 will take place from Sept. 15-18. In fact, you can check Mega Visions during those dates for updates on projects and announcements from the show! How do you think the event will go this year? Let us know below!
