This War of Mine devs donate profits to Ukraine

In light of the awful situation going on in Ukraine, many people are trying to figure out ways they can help. This includes those in the gaming industry. Developer 11 Bit Studios might have found an honest way to do so. Because of the crimes in Ukraine, the Polish developers have announced that all sales in the next week of their hit indie game, This War of Mine, will go directly to the Ukrainian Red Cross. You can see their statement below on the matters in a tweet.

Why the situation in Ukraine hits home for 11 Bit Studios

It makes sense for a couple reasons why the situation in Ukraine hits close to home for 11 Bit. First, they’re a Polish developer, and Ukraine is their neighbor. Because of this, seeing the senseless attack done to a free country right by them has to be sickening to the core.

Furthermore, This War of Mine is a game that showcases the true horrors of war. It doesn’t pull back or sugarcoat how wars leave towns, cities, and countries in total destruction. It meticulously showcases how individuals, families, and communities can be torn apart and left in the rubble by war crimes. It’s an unflinching experience that leaves a lasting impression on players. And it gets the point across that war leaves horrendous scars on everyone involved.

What Russia has done to Ukraine is nothing short of a war crime. And more in the industry should follow suit with 11 Bit Studios in figuring out ways to help the people who truly need it.
