The Sonic movie writers are now adapting It Takes Two for film and TV

Hazelight Studios is partnering up with dj2 Entertainment!

The production company behind the Sonic the Hedgehog films, dj2 Entertainment, recently partnered with game developer Hazelight Studios to adapt Game-of-the-Year winner It Takes Two for film and television!

According to Variety, the project is the subject of a multi-party bidding war. However, Pat Casey and Josh Miller behind the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and its upcoming sequel are determined to stay on the project until further news breaks.

Published by EA in March 2021, It Takes Two is a co-op adventure that sold over three million copies and eventually became Game-of-the-Year and won several other high-profile awards. Most of its success comes from Hazelight Studios and definitely from the guidance of creative director and founder Josef Fares. He even shares the untapped potential of It Takes Two, pulling from its memorable characters and cooperative segments:

“Since it has a strong narrative with many crazy characters and just as crazy co-op action moments, the potential is huge for a great adaption to film or television.”

Also, it turns out that It Takes Two is just one of the projects that dj2 Entertainment is creating. Dj2 has been prepping a Tomb Raider anime series for Netflix; other game adaptations like Life is Strange, Disco Elysium, Sleeping Dogs, and Little Nightmares are also in the works. Dj2 certainly has their work cut out for them! In the end, I hope they can fine-tune each adaptation as they nailed with Sonic the Hedgehog.

Are you surprised by this announcement, and do you think Hazelight and d2j can pull it off? Let us know below!
