The Simpsons: Hit and Run remake is back and bigger

In my time working for Mega Visions, one of the wildest stories I wrote about was a fan remaking The Simpsons: Hit and Run. The project was being worked on by Youtuber Reuben “reubs” Ward and caught the attention of the games’ original designers. After it went viral, Reubs pulled the video due to fear of copyright claims, but it seems he didn’t quit working on it.

In a video uploaded to his page, Reubs revealed a remake of The Simpsons: Hit and Run that he has been working on. Not only that, but he somehow managed to make the game open-world instead of linear like the original. You can check out the full video below.

Reubs explains that he built the project on Unreal Engine 5 and utilized the power available to make the game open-world. He reiterates multiple times that the game will never be available for download for legal purposes.

All that said, this video is impressive. It showcases what fan remakes can be moving forward. I’m not sure who owns the rights to The Simpsons: Hit and Run now. But I would call Reubs up and start a discussion about funding the project for release. You can’t tell me it wouldn’t be a massive hit with the funding behind it!

Do you think a remake like this could work for The Simpsons: Hit and Run? What do you think of Reubs work? Let us know in the comments below!
