The Orion dock boasts 11.6 inch screen on the Switch, in production now

Sometimes size does, indeed, matter. And anyone who tells you differently has never tried to play a video game on a small screen. (Insert giggles) On a serious note, for those of us who struggle with our eyesight or just want bigger screens in our Nintendo Switch and cannot wait until we can get our hands on the larger OLED screens, the Orion dock may be the answer.

Up-Switch’s Orion dock boast an impressive expanded 11.6 inch screen. Although the current version uses an IPS LCD display panel, the bigger size, and pair of stereo speakers on the back are definitely huge pluses to the original. It won’t drain battery life, with the ability to charge through an AC adapter that charges the console too, or by using the portable battery attached to the back with Velcro strips. Additionally, Orion can be used as an external display for other devices by using the HDMI port, including other consoles.

The setup seems simple, from the demo videos provided by the creators. “Secure any Nintendo Switch® (IPS or OLED) into the back of the ORION and seamlessly lock your Joy-Con® controllers into the Ergo Grip setup on the sides of ORION and you can game at home, on your way to and at your final destination!” Up-Switch’s Indiegogo campaign page states. Right now, the campaign looks to be in its production phase. However, it’s still accepting contributions, with the Orion dock as part of backer perks. Perks range from $249 USD up to $579 USD. The initial backers can expect their docks before Christmas, with shipping throughout North America, European Union, and the UK.

So, if you’re looking for a unique gift or something for yourself, drop by their campaign page. Here’s to bigger and better screen days!
