Sonic the Hedgehog DLC arrives on Minecraft

In case you didn’t know Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th birthday is tomorrow and SEGA has been celebrating in all manner of ways. Today, SEGA and Microsoft announced a partnership to release a Sonic the Hedgehog DLC pack for Minecraft.

The Sonic the Hedgehog DLC Pack is now available to purchase in the Minecraft Market. It adds classic locales like Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant, as well as unlockable environments from the Sonic universe in-game, where players navigate obstacles and bosses to collect rings, according to the announcement.

In addition to the Sonic DLC, there will be a special server event to celebrate Sonic’s birthday. According to the announcement on Minecraft.net, The Hive are hosting a two-week server-hub takeover featuring mini-games and a few festive surprises.

SEGA originally announced plans to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary last September. Since then, SEGA announced a wide range of merchandise, collectibles and Sonic Colors Ultimate, which will release on Sept. 7.
