SEGA teases ‘SEGA Forever’ in the most awesomely retro way possible

We reported a while ago that SEGA looked to be releasing a new service called ‘SEGA Forever’. Nothing was confirmed, but all signs were hinting that it could be a new retro gaming service for mobile devices.

Well it looks like those signs could be right on the money, as SEGA has sent out some brilliant little teasers in the form of cassettes containing music from classic SEGA games, such as Space Harrier, Outrun, Phantasy Star II, Shining Force II, Vectorman and several other Mega Drive/Genesis titles.

It also came with a note saying: “Cassette tapes changed music forever. We’re about to do the same with retro gaming n mobile. From SEGA, with love.”

In case you’re wondering if the cassette is real or fake, we made the fun little video above. It really does contain the songs – which is awesome.

As I say, it looks like SEGA Forever will be a service delivering retro SEGA games to mobile phones. Which games will be on it? Well from the songs on the cassette, I reckon those games could be a safe bet!

Stay tuned – we’re hoping SEGA will reveal more at E3 this week! In the meantime, I’m really happy that I still have a stereo with built in cassette deck! …
