SEGA releases a new Shenmue video for players starting their journey

SEGA and the Shenmue series have had quite an interesting relationship. Prior to 2015, fans of the series passionately campaigned and poked the blue brand for answers about a third game. At E3 2015, Shenmue fans’ prayers were finally answered. Yu Suzuki walked out on stage to announce Shenmue III on Kickstarter. The news sent shockwaves through the industry, and Shenmue III‘s Kickstarter broke many records, including the fastest video game to hit $1 million in 24 hours.

Although SEGA wasn’t directly involved with the project, they did give Suzuki their blessing to use the IP. Their support continued with the 2018 remasters of Shenmue I and II. The port received solid reviews from fans and critics (we reviewed it too!), and sales were very positive.

How are my nails?

It looks like SEGA wants to keep the Shenmue love going in 2021. This week, SEGA Europe released a new video for first time Shenmue fans. The new video is narrated by Ryo Hazuki voice actor Corey Marshall and Shenmue Guru Adam Koralik. If you’re new to the world of Shenmue, this video gives you five great tips when starting your journey.

I definitely agree the game deserves your time and patience. The world of Shenmue is meant to be explored and appreciated. Talk to every character and drink every soda. Stop by the arcade, and hone your martial arts skills. The series still holds a special place in my heart, and I recommend everyone to give it a try.

Have you played Shenmue before? Tell us about your own journey below! There is no word yet about a fourth game, but an anime series is coming soon. Fingers crossed the anime adaptation is good!

You can get Shenmue I & II on Steam for $29.99.
