SEGA is making an Astro City Mini arcade and it’s freaking adorable

It took SEGA quite a while to finally jump into the “mini console pool” when they finally released the SEGA Genesis Mini (you can get one for 50 percent off right now). Of course, that was like a couple years after Nintendo released their first NES Mini.

Recently, SEGA announced the Game Gear Micro, which has some people scratching their heads because the damn thing is nearly too micro to play with normal human hands. But today, they’ve gone and done it again when they announced they’re making an Astro City Mini arcade cabinet.

Like its other mini products, the Astro City Mini will include pre-loaded SEGA arcade games, and will come with 36 in all. The confirmed list currently has these games that will be included:

  • Alien Syndrome
  • Alien Storm
  • Golden Axe
  • Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder
  • Columns II
  • Dark Edge
  • Puzzle & Action: Tant-R
  • Virtua Fighter
  • Fantasy Zone
  • Altered Beast

The Astro City Mini will include an HDMI-out, two USB-A ports, a Micro USB port, a headphone jack and will include microswitches in the arcade stick.

The Astro City Mini is expected to release in Japan sometime late this year for 12,800 yen. There’s no word yet if SEGA will release the Astro City Mini worldwide, but you better bet that we’ll be importing one for the Mega Visions office, for sure!
