RUMOR: Bioshock Isolation is the name of the next Bioshock game

The latest rumors suggest that the next Bioshock game is titled Bioshock Isolation, and we'll learn more at the Game Awards.

Fans have been starving for news about the next Bioshock title for years, and if the latest rumors hold any truth, it won’t be long before we get some. Twitter user Oops Leaks (appropriate name) has been posting alleged details on an upcoming Bioshock game. The game is seemingly titled Bioshock Isolation and will be revealed at the upcoming 2021 Game Awards.

We’ve known that a new Bioshock title is under development for a while now. In 2019, 2K Games announced that internal developer Cloud Chamber is working on the next game in the series. Whether or not this is the rumored Bioshock Isolation is up in the air, but all signs point towards this being the case.

Much of this information comes from 2019 or earlier, so it’s wise to take it with a grain of salt. However, if these rumors are true, then we won’t have to wait much longer for the next Bioshock experience.

What we know about Bioshock Isolation

According to the rumor, Bioshock Isolation is the name (or at least a working title) for the upcoming Bioshock sequel developed by Cloud Chamber. The game will supposedly take place in two warring vertical cities, one above-ground and the other underground. While the above-ground city is a utopian land of freedom, the underground city is isolated and subjugated by a tyrannical leader. The conflict between the two locations might make up the bulk of the narrative, but this is merely speculation.

Oops Leaks has spilled the beans on some technical information as well. The game is developed using Unreal Engine 5 and it will not be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Several talented game designers are on board, including ex-Irrational Games employees and people who worked on titles like Watch Dogs: Legion, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Mafia III, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. However, it seems that Bioshock creator Ken Levine is not attached to the project.

In a recent Tweet, Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley acknowledged that he’s working with a developer that the show has been working with for two-and-a-half years. Funnily enough, it was about two-and-a-half years ago that 2K announced the next Bioshock title. Oops Leaks doesn’t believe that this is a coincidence.

We’ll just have to wait for the Game Awards to see if these rumors are true or not. Do you think we’ll see Bioshock Isolation at the Game Awards? Let us know!
