River City Girls 2 launches summer of 2022

During the latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase, Wayforward announced that River City Girls 2 is nearing completion with a Summer 2022 release window.

It is the highly anticipated sequel to River City Girls and will see the return of Kyoko and Misako. Joining them this time are many new fighters for players to choose from. You can check out the reveal trailer below:

Details on the story are scarce. Fans will recognize Sabuko in the trailer after the end of River City Girls. It seems that she is meeting with someone in a limo about the events of the last game. It would make sense for a crime lord to be thinking about her revenge so quickly after getting kicked around by two school girls.

What gaming platforms get River City Girls 2?

As the trailer shows, the girls will have plenty of new allies this time around that will be playable. River City vets Kunio and Riki are coming this time. There are some surprising newcomers like Marian from Double Dragon. The big surprise is Provie from River City Ransom: Underground. All six will be playable in the new game and look to have their own fighting styles. Wayforward has also confirmed that the game will be playable in local and online co-op.

River City Girls 2 will launch on Switch, PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Steam. Are you excited to return to another adventure with Kyoko, Misako, and the rest of the crew? Let us know in the comments!
