Nintendo announces Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Well, I hope you didn’t think that just because SEGA hasn’t seen commercial success on the Wii U that it’d stop bringing its games to the system as Mario & Sonic and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games was announced during today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast.

The game, which is in development for both the Wii U and 3DS, will be based off actual events that will take place during next summer’s Olympics, like soccer, rugby, volleyball and more, according to Gematsu.

I suppose it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see SEGA and Nintendo teaming up again as the Mario & Sonic Olympic games have been big sellers in the past, and SEGA apparently still owns the Olympic licensing rights.
