New Sonic 2 movie poster references video game, final trailer released

Sonic and Tails race into action this April!

As we gear up for the Blue Blur’s second big-screen adventure, it’s time to turn up the heat! Yesterday, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 received both a new poster and its final trailer.

On Twitter, Sonic himself Ben Schwartz shared his excitement for the upcoming film and its accompanying poster. The new poster is a direct love letter to the classic Sonic 2 game for SEGA Genesis. The front adorns Sonic and Tails as Robotnik menacingly lurks behind the giant number “2”.

Turn up the heat with the final Sonic 2 trailer!

The new poster isn’t the only exciting Sonic movie news to come out yesterday. Paramount Pictures also released the final trailer. You can see it for yourself below.

The high-velocity trailer ramps up early on as the “Green Hill Zone theme” plays as Tom’s ringtone during a wedding. After Tom uses a ring to open up a portal, Sonic and Tails barrel out, crashing the party with a pile of snow. The fun trailer also dives deeper into Robotnik’s dastardly plot to harness unlimited energy from the chaos emeralds.

True to the Blue Blur’s nature, the trailer keeps up the fast pace, showing off a variety of action sequences. We see everything from an epic snowboard chase down a mountainside to the showdown between Sonic and Knuckles. In addition, humorous lines paying homage to other franchises, like the Winter Soldier joke, retain the wit and charm fans love.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 releases in theaters on April 8, 2022! In addition, tickets are on sale now. Are you excited for Sonic’s next big adventure? Let us know below!
