NBA 2K23, Splatoon 3, Biomutant and more!

Happy Labor Day, everyone! As we enjoy our day off, what better way to celebrate than look at some upcoming games? This week has something for everyone. Whether you want to live your basketball dreams in NBA 2K23 or gather your friends for some fun in Splatoon 3, there’s something for you. But let’s not waste anymore time as we dive into this week’s new games!

Biomutant (Sept. 6)

Starting things off this week, we have Biomutant! Developed by Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic, this action adventure title places you into a surprisingly vibrant post-apocalyptic open world. The overall stylistic presentation of this game features a host of bizarre wildlife and monsters that can range from funny to unsettling.

The ambitious title blends its exploration and action with a robust crafting system that allows you to build exotic and powerful weapons from various items you can collect. Overall, this ambitious open-world title is packed with content that will keep you busy for hours on end. Although it first launched last year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Biomutant rides out tomorrow for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Temtem (Sept. 6)

Making its way into your home next is Temtem. Developed by Crema and published by Humble Games, this MMORPG features similar monster-catching sensibilities to Pokémon but with its own flare. In the game, you’ll travel the world to catch monsters and battle other tamers.

However, the core aspect of this game is the MMO community that lets you and other players travel, explore, interact and battle together. Although the game remained in early access for years, it is now time to open up the game for its full launch. Temtem officially launches tomorrow on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition (Sept. 6)

Then, developer Q Games revives its collaborative building simulator with The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition. In the game, players must work together to build islands and battle monsters. The multiplayer sim also places you into an interesting Cold War Soviet Union-themed dystopia that gives it a distinct aesthetic.

The original game released in 2016, but now Phoenix Edition hopes to revive it with all new features. In the new version, players can take advantage of more islands, a grappling hook to scale structures and an offline single-player mode. You can check out The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition tomorrow on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Jack Move (Sept. 8)

JRPG fans won’t want to miss out on Jack Move! This title, developed by So Romantic and published by HypeTrain Digital, offers addictive turn-based gameplay within a gritty cyberpunk world. Players take on the role of Noa, a vigilante hacker who gets thrust into a world of murder, kidnapping and dark research after her father goes missing.

Throughout Noa’s journey, she’ll get the help of her best friend and tactical planner Ryder, as well as her Martini drinking uncle and ex-corporate spy Guin Blakely. The game also features a deep turn-based battle system that allows you to customize your Cyber Deck software mid-battle to switch roles. Jack Move launches on September 8 for PC and on September 20 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Steelrising (Sept. 8)

Steelrising is an action RPG that puts players into an alternate version of 1700s France. Developed by Spiders Studios and published by Nacon, players take on the role of the automaton Aegis as you fight against King Louis XVI’s robotic armies. Put it like this: if you ever wondered how the French Revolution would have transpired with robots, this is the game for you.

The game features a dark, gritty aesthetic that bleeds across the streets of Paris to the unique character models. Featuring Souls-like gameplay and robots that look like marionette dolls, this game stands apart as a unique RPG experience. You can step into Steelrising on September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Splatoon 3 (Sept. 9)

Splatoon 3 is the third entry in Nintendo’s widely popular multiplayer shooter. The new game brings back all the fast-paced multiplayer Turf Wars action with a series of small improvements. Along with new weapons, the mode also allows players to spawn in a specific direction after being splatted.

In addition, the game’s often-overlooked Hero Mode returns with all new puzzles, platforming and strategic splatting action to complete the series saga. Salmon Run also comes back with all new bosses that really shake things up in the co-op mode. Splatoon 3 splats out onto your Nintendo Switch on September 9.

NBA 2K23 (Sept. 9)

Finally, 2K brings us the latest entry in their long-standing basketball series with NBA 2K23. Developed by Visual Concepts, this sports simulator brings us all the basketball action players love from the NBA 2K series. One major change coming to this year’s entry is a far easier rookie mode to ease new players into the learning curve.

Another new feature is the ability for the Pro Stick to let you perform double throws and switchbacks. The new game also increases depth by making each jump shot type deliver different stats to determine the speed, height and effectiveness against defense. NBA 2K23 jumps out to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 9.
