Knuckles will be playable in SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Lock-On Technology just got unlocked!

The upcoming SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will have a pretty interesting feature previously only available using “Lock-On Technology.”

The game will include Knuckles as a playable character, whereas in Sonic 2’s original Genesis release, it required inserting the game onto the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge to unlock our favorite echidna.

While we’ve played Sonic 2 on just about every imaginable console, handheld and vacuum cleaner, it will be kinda neat to have Knuckles in this version. The game will also have features like Super Sonic Mode (allowing you to begin with seven Chaos Emeralds), online rankings and the Ring Keep Mode, which was introduced in 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

The game is being ported by M2 for release on the Nintendo Switch. It was announced in September 2018 but does not yet have a release date.
