John Carpenter would love to make a Dead Space movie

From Halloween to The Thing, now John Carpenter shows interest in a Dead Space film!

We live in a time where video game fans are starting to get fantastic movie and TV adaptations of their series. Castlevania knocked it out of the park, and the Sonic The Hedgehog films have had a favorable fan and critical reception. You would think it’s only a matter of time before a film legend decides to step up and make a video game adaptation. Someone like, oh, John Carpenter doing a Dead Space film?

In an interview with AV Club, Carpenter was asked if he would ever direct a video game adaptation. The only one that came to mind was the infamous 2008 survival horror. Carpenter said;

The only one I can think of, and I’ve mentioned it before, is Dead Space. That would make a really great movie. I could do that… Well, any of them were really good. I even like the last one, the action one that nobody else liked.

LET. HIM. DO. IT. Write a blank check. I don’t care what studio funds it. Carpenter is PERFECT for a property like Dead Space. He knows how to build tension for viewers, as he proved in Halloween. Plus, he can make any monster effect look grotesque and realistic. Just look at The Thing. This would be a match made in heaven. If any studio head saw that quote, run to your financing department and get a budget to get this done. You will have a hit on your hands, guaranteed!

The remake of Dead Space releases on January 2, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. What do you think about John Carpenter doing a film on the series? Would he get it right? Let us know in the comments below!
