Hideo Kojima may be working on a horror game called Overdose

The rumored Kojima horror game reportedly stars Margaret Qualley.

Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima is reportedly working on a horror game called Overdose.

The rumors come from reliable video game leaker Tom Henderson. Henderson states he saw early footage of a game featuring actress Margaret Qualley. Qualley previously starred in Kojima Productions’ debut game Death Stranding alongside Norman Reedus.

Although Death Stranding 2 is also reportedly in early development, Henderson adds that the game footage he witnessed doesn’t appear to be that game. Instead, the video he saw appears to be from a brand new original title.

Henderson further describes the video as showing Qualley’s character traversing dark corridors aided only by a flashlight. Although the footage is in a third-person perspective, the rumors cite the game may also feature a first-person option. Towards the end of the video, Henderson describes a jump scare displaying the words, “GAMEOVER.” Following the jump scare is “A Hideo Kojima Game” and the title “OVERDOSE”.

Currently, any details about this possible new game remain mere speculation. However, Henderson also claims that Kojima Productions requested he remove the original article. If Kojima is truly concerned about a leak, the claim may have some validity.

In addition, a partial image displaying the rumored game’s logo also leaked. Although the image quality is very low, you can make out text displaying part of Hideo Kojima’s name followed by “Over”.

Hideo Kojima expresses interest in making a horror game

Another tidbit of information that lends itself to the rumor’s legitimacy is Kojima’s own stated interest in making a horror game. Although his Silent Hills game never saw the light of day, Kojima teased a horror project way back in 2019. In a Tweet, he stated how he would watch horror movies to ,”make the scariest horror game”. In 2020, Kojima also revealed his intentions to make a “revolutionary” horror game one day.

Whether that revolutionary horror game is the reported Overdose remains to be seen. However, Kojima himself wants to make a horror game. And Henderson does get a lot, and I mean a lot, of things right when he posts leaks.

What do you think? Would you like to see a Hideo Kojima horror game? Do you think Overdose is a real project? As always, share your thoughts with us in the comments!
