Danimals’ mascot and character customizations headed to Sonic Dash

Get off your dairy-ere and go play Sonic Dash

Sonic Dash is about to get a whole lot more dairy in their diet. This week, Danimals and SEGA of America announced an unlikely partnership. Starting mid-May, Sonic will make a cameo on your local Danimals smoothie and pouch. On the back of product will be a QR code, that takes you to the app store to download Sonic Dash. That’s not all; there are two new features added to the long-running mobile game.

After completing the tutorial, fans could download Bongo the Danimals mascot as a playable character. In addition to Sonic’s new anthropomorphic friend, character customizations and Pirate skins for Sonic and Shadow are joining the package. All of this is part of SEGA’s ongoing celebration of Sonic’s 30th anniversary.

This is what Ivo Gerscovich, Chief Brand Officer for Sonic the Hedgehog & SVP of SEGA of America had to say about the announcement:

“Danimals is a household name in the food and beverage industry, and a favorite among kids everywhere, so we’re thrilled to partner up with them as part of Sonic’s 30th anniversary celebration. By integrating the packaging with Sonic Dash, we’re able to offer Sonic fans an exciting new way to collect new characters in the game and experience Danimals unlike they ever have before — in the Sonic universe.”

Sonic Dash is available on mobile devices through the App Store and Google Play. While the announcement is certainly an interesting one, I think the character customization and pirate costumes will pique Sonic fans’ interests.
