Combat Core could be the Power Stone sequel you’ve been waiting for

A new Kickstarter project has been launched to fund Combat Core, a 3D arena fighter in development for PC that takes its inspiration from Capcom’s infamous Power Stone (see review) on the SEGA Dreamcast.

Like Power Stone, Combat Core will feature up to four-player battles with weapon and power boost pickups, and interactive fighting arenas. It will also feature online multiplayer, a character editor and Oculus Rift support.

The game will feature eight playable characters with a stretch goal to add four more.

The current plan is to have eight playable characters, but if they reach certain stretch goals, it could raise the roster to 12 playable characters. There are also stretch goals for a Wii U and Xbox One port, along with expanded story and gameplay mode stretch goals.

The game, which has been in development since 2013 and has already been greenlit on Steam and approved for developer programs on the Xbox One and Wii U, is looking to raise $30,000 to “help get the game to the finish line,” according to the game’s Kickstarter description. The game is already in a playable state (you can download an alpha demo here), and the developers aim to have an early access build ready in late 2015, with the full release early next year.
