Castlevania: Resurrection prototype currently selling for $20,000 on eBay

Get your wallet ready

The Castlevania series has had one hell of a ride in the headlines this week. After years of rumors and speculation, a prototype of Castlevania: Resurrection appeared on an anonymous YouTube channel. This youtuber (appropriately named cvr exists) showed the world a fully playable version of the mythical game. Their video showed off its playability, and a debug menu with different levels from the game.

Well, after only a couple of days on the internet, the elusive user put up their copy of the Dreamcast game on eBay. Here’s what they had to say:

So I have had this for 20 years and completely forgot about it despite being a HUGE Castlevania fan. This is probably the only playable disc of this game in existence and, as far as I am concerned, is priceless for any Dreamcast or Castlevania fan. That said I am downsizing and recently uncovered it again, and it’s time to let this one go. I have no idea what it’s worth to the rest of the world other than to get it ripped and archived, but to own a one of a kind in all the world piece of Dreamcast and Castlevania history would be the real treasure here. I hope it goes to as big a fan as I am.

I have no idea what it’s worth, as it’s priceless to me, so I’ll let the world decide it’s value. I’m starting it a 1$.

Although he started bids at a dollar, it quickly turned into thousands.

As the seller mentions, the game will not run without a System Disk 2 boot disc. For those willing to shell out this amount of cash, you may want to get one (or figure out how to use one) before putting down a bid.

Earlier today, they received many questions about a backup of Castlevania: Resurrection. Apparently, they would not sell this disc on eBay without backing it up. It also looks like the Dreamcast game WILL be released to the public at some point in the future.

I, for one, will not be shelling out $20,000 or more for this game, but more power to the individual who does. Hopefully it gets sold to the right person!
