A fan has crafted a custom controller for Xeno Crisis

Have you played Xeno Crisis yet? It’s a top-down arcade shooter that you can get on most consoles currently. Wildly enough, you can also get it physically for the Sega Genesis, Neo Geo, and Dreamcast on developer Bitmap Bureau’s website! Hence why it was a part of our 24 hour Dreamcast marathon! With all that context, now to show this off.

In a post on Twitter, Bitmap Bureau showed off a custom-made controller for the game made by Twitter user @masuo0258. The Genesis controller has the logo for the company in the middle. But the curious thing to notice is that the buttons have been replaced by a joypad thumbstick from a Neo Geo controller! You can check out the tweet below.

After playing Xeno Crisis myself with its brutal difficulty, this controller would help quite a bit. I like the game a lot, but it is one of the most unyielding top-down shooters I’ve tried to complete. Having an old-school double control feel with a Genesis pad and the Neo Geo thumbstick would add a wonderful feel to the action. Full credit to @masuo0258 for the creative ingenuity to combine both specifically for the game for Bitmap Bureau to see!

Along with being available physically as mentioned above, Xeno Crisis is available digitally on most modern consoles and PC. It’s also on Xbox Game Pass if you want to take a crack yourself at the break-neck difficulty.
